MINI R53 cooling fans use a resistor to control fan speed. If the fan only runs at high speed, the resistor has likely failed. Replacing the resistor instead of the full fan assembly saves money.
Product Information
The cooling fan on MINI R53 models is electronically controlled based on engine temperature and A/C operation. Its primary function is to pull air through the radiator to reduce coolant temperatures, typically operating when the car is stationary or moving at low speeds where natural airflow is limited.
The fan is integrated into the shroud and uses a resistor to regulate fan speed. If the fan only runs at high speed, the resistor has likely failed. Our direct fit replacement resistor is designed to restore proper fan operation without replacing the entire fan assembly. It installs easily by splicing into the existing wiring and delivers reliable performance at a fraction of the cost of a complete fan and shroud replacement.
